Around midday from the central “Oculus” (hole) firemen will drop thousands of rose petals to remember the miracle of Pentecost , the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Jesus . An ancient tradition that took place on Pentecost Sunday , suspended over the past centuries, it was restored in 1995 .
